- The Director (R&D) will formulate R&D policy, drive technology strategy, and ensure BEL remains a leader in aerospace, defense, and civilian electronics markets. Key responsibilities include:
• Setting R&D policy and technology roadmaps for professional/strategic electronics, components, equipment, and systems under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Scheme.
• Collaborating with Defence R&D organizations, CSIR, research institutions, and academia to coordinate development activities.
• Developing future technologies at BEL’s Central Research Laboratories (CRL), Centers of Excellence (CoEs), and Product Development & Innovation Centre (PDIC).
• Ensuring indigenous solutions for the defense sector, addressing obsolescence, product upgrades, and cost-effectiveness while leveraging startups and MSMEs.
• Managing Intellectual Property (IP) creation, valuation, and protection for sustained business growth.
- BEL operates nine production units across Bangalore, Ghaziabad, Pune, Machilipatnam, Kotdwara, Panchkula, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Navi Mumbai, with its headquarters in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

- Employment Status: Must be employed in a regular capacity (not contractual/ad-hoc) in one of the following as of the date of application (15/10/2026) and interview date:
• Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) (including full-time functional Directors)
• Central Government Group ‘A’ Officers (including Armed Forces, All India Services, Public Sector Banks, Financial Institutions, Autonomous Bodies)
• State Public Sector Enterprise (SPSE) with annual turnover ≥ Rs. 5,000 crore
• Private Sector Company/ Joint Venture (50:50 JVs with Central/State Governments or CPSEs) with annual turnover ≥ Rs. 5,000 crore (preference for listed companies).
