Indian Nationals only are eligible to apply.
For Research Engineer (Level 10):
- Graduate in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience OR
- Postgraduate in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 65% marks in qualifying degree (60% for SC/ST candidates).
For Junior Research Engineer (Level 8):
- Graduate in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Instrumentation, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control, or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering.
- Freshers are eligible for Junior Research Engineer positions.
- Minimum 65% marks in qualifying degree (60% for SC/ST candidates).
Qualifying degrees must be full-time regular courses from UGC-recognized Indian universities or AICTE-approved institutions.
Candidates awaiting final results may apply for Junior Research Engineer positions with conditions (upload final marksheets and degree certificate by 31.08.2026).
Experience certificates must be submitted in the prescribed format for Research Engineer positions.
Publications in peer-reviewed journals are required for specific Research Engineer posts (RE-ME-MPF-001 and RE-ME-FFR-004).
Age limit as on 24.08.2026: 35 years for UR, 38 years for OBC, 40 years for SC, 35 years for ST, and 30 years for EWS (relaxation applicable for government employees).

Selection process consists of three stages: Screening of Applications, Written Test (for Junior Research Engineers), and Personal Interview.
Screening of Applications: Based on educational qualifications, experience criteria, age, and submission of application fee.
Written Test (for Junior Research Engineers only):
- Online examination with 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in bilingual mode (Hindi/English).
- Duration: 120 minutes; Maximum marks: 400 (4 marks for correct answer, -1 for incorrect answer).
- Syllabus covers Reasoning & Numerical Ability, Probability & Statistics, Data Science & Programming, Measurement Principles, and discipline-specific topics.
Personal Interview: Conducted for shortlisted candidates after document verification.
Final selection for Junior Research Engineers is based on a weightage ratio of 80:20 (Written Test: Interview).
Final selection for Research Engineers is based solely on the Interview (additional assessment stages may be included if required).
Document verification is mandatory for all shortlisted candidates (original documents required).
Medical examination and verification of character & antecedents are required for selected candidates.
No TA/DA is payable for attending the written test or interview.
