Fire Officer (Contract Basis) Vacancy

- The Visakhapatnam Port Authority is hiring a Fire Officer on a contract basis for the Marine Department.
- The engagement is initially for one year, renewable based on satisfactory performance.
- The selected candidate will work under the Deputy Conservator (HoD) and be assigned duties in the Fire Service Section of the Port.
- The Fire Officer will be required to work minimum 8 hours per day (general/shift basis) and may be assigned additional duties as needed by the Port.
- The role involves firefighting operations, implementing mutual aid schemes, and coordination with competent authorities.
- The Fire Officer must adhere to safety norms and wear proper uniform during duty hours.
- The position is need-based and does not guarantee continuous employment or permanent appointment.

- Age Limit: Must be between 18 to 40 years as of 29.09.2026 (date of notification).
- Physical Standards: Must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum height: 157 cm
- Minimum chest (normal): 81 cm
- Minimum chest (expanded): 86 cm
- Minimum weight: 50 kg
- Educational Qualifications: Must be a graduate from a recognized university/institution.
- Training Requirement: Must have undergone 6 months of training in a recognized Fire Training Institute/College.
- Driving License: Must possess a driving license for light and heavy vehicles.
- Experience Requirement: Minimum 3 years of working experience in a supervisory capacity in a large Fire Service Establishment (industry/Government Undertaking).
- Heavy Vehicle Driving Test: Candidates recommended for interview must undergo a heavy vehicle driving test.

- Application Submission: Eligible candidates must submit their applications in the Model Application Format (Annexure-I) along with self-attested photocopies of educational certificates, experience proof, and age proof.
- Document Verification: Applications will be verified by a Certificate Verification Committee. Only eligible candidates recommended by this committee will be considered for selection/interview.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview after document verification.
- Heavy Vehicle Driving Test: Candidates recommended for interview must pass a heavy vehicle driving test.
