UPESSC Principal and Headmaster Recruitment 2026

- UPESSC has released notifications for Principal (Pradhanacharya) and Headmaster (Pradhanadhyapak) posts in aided non-government schools under the Secondary Education Department, Uttar Pradesh.
- The recruitment drive includes 1,475 Principal vacancies and 1,172 Headmaster vacancies, totaling 2,647 posts.
- Vacancies are distributed across boys' and girls' schools, with specific requisitions listed in the notification.
- The recruitment is open to Indian citizens only. All vacancies are unreserved, with provisions for candidates with benchmark disabilities.
- The selection process involves a written examination (360 marks) and an interview (40 marks).

- Principal (Pradhanacharya):
• A postgraduate (Master’s) degree with at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
• A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree recognized by NCTE.
• At least 4 years of teaching experience as a Lecturer or Assistant Teacher in Classes 9 to 12, or 4 years as Headmaster in a High School.
- Headmaster (Pradhanadhyapak):
• A postgraduate (Master’s) degree with at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
• A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) degree recognized by NCTE.
• At least 4 years of teaching experience as a Lecturer or Assistant Teacher in Classes 9 to 12, or 4 years as Headmaster in a Junior High School.
- Candidates must be Indian citizens.
- Age limit: Minimum 30 years and maximum 62 years as of 1 July 2026.
- Female candidates are eligible for both boys' and girls' schools but must choose only one category while applying.
- Male candidates are not eligible for appointment as Principal in girls' institutions.
- Candidates must provide a health certificate from a government hospital or primary health center on the day of the interview.

- Written examination (360 marks) consisting of 120 objective-type (multiple-choice) questions, lasting 2 hours.
- Interview (40 marks) for candidates shortlisted based on the written exam.
- Final merit list prepared from total marks out of 400 (360 for written exam + 40 for interview).
- Tie-breaking rules: Marks in written exam, interview, postgraduate degree percentage, B.Ed./B.P.Ed. marks, and age (older candidate preferred if all else is equal).

- Original and self-attested copy of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the current employer, if applicable.
- Two self-attested copies of the disability certificate (if applicable).
- Two copies of the affidavit (Appendix-3) stating whether any case is pending in court.
- Two self-attested copies of the character certificate from the last educational institution.
- Two self-attested copies of character certificates from two respectable persons.
- Originals of all documents for verification at the interview.

- Principal: ₹2,000 for General / OBC / EWS / Divyangjan, ₹2,000 for SC / ST / Divyangjan (same fee for all categories).
- Headmaster: ₹1,500 for General / OBC / EWS / Divyangjan, ₹1,500 for SC / ST / Divyangjan (same fee for all categories).
- Fee can be paid online via credit card, debit card, or net banking.
