Assistant Manager (Materials)

Recruitment for the position of Assistant Manager (Materials) in Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
Role involves procurement, stores management, and supply chain operations in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore fabrication, or related industries.

Educational Qualification: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Marine, or Naval Architecture Engineering from a recognized university.
OR Minimum three-year Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Marine, or Shipbuilding Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education.
Desirable: Proficiency in computer applications such as AutoCAD, SAP, MS Project, and MS Office.
Experience: Minimum three years of post-qualification managerial experience for degree holders.
Minimum five years of post-qualification managerial experience for diploma holders.
Experience must be in procurement, stores, or supply chain management in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore fabrication, petrochemical, engineering, or government/semi-government organizations.
Desirable: Minimum one year of experience in e-procurement, inventory management, or shipbuilding procurement.
Age Limit: Maximum 30 years as of 27 August 2026 (born on or after 28 August 1996).
Age relaxation: 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates and 5 years for SC candidates.
Age relaxation for PwBD and Ex-servicemen as per Government of India guidelines (maximum age limit after relaxations: 45 years).

Selection will be based on three stages: Objective Type Test (50 marks), Personal Interview (20 marks), and PowerPoint Presentation (30 marks) for assessing work experience.
Objective Type Test: 60 minutes duration with 50 multiple-choice questions (10 marks for General Knowledge, 40 marks for Subject-Based). No negative marking.
Minimum pass marks: 50% for UR, 45% for OBC (reserved posts), 40% for SC and PwBD candidates.
Shortlisted candidates based on Objective Type Test will undergo certificate verification for eligibility (age, qualification, reservation, experience).
Eligible candidates will proceed to PowerPoint Presentation and Personal Interview at Udupi CSL Malpe or via electronic media.
Final selection will be based on aggregate marks from all three stages. In case of a tie, marks from the Subject-Based section of the Objective Type Test will be considered, followed by age seniority.
Rank list validity: 18 months from the date of reporting of the last candidate or until a fresh notification is issued.

General (UR), OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, and PwBD candidates are eligible.
Reservation as per Government of India directives.
PwBD candidates must have a minimum 40% disability and submit a valid certificate.

Scanned copy of Ex-servicemen discharge certificate/book/Pension Payment Order (if applicable).
Scanned copy of undertaking for Ex-servicemen (Annexure-II) if re-employed in Government after availing benefits.
Scanned copy of declaration for Government employees (Annexure-I) stating they have informed their employer about applying to UCSL.

Application fee: ₹1,000 (non-refundable) for UR/OBC candidates.
No application fee for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
