Junior Engineer (JE) and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) Recruitment 2026

- Recruitment drive for 3993 vacancies under CEN No. 04/2026 for Junior Engineer (JE) and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) posts.
- Posts are spread across 21 Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and 37 post categories in Electrical, Engineering (Civil), Mechanical, Signal & Telecommunication, and Stores departments.
- Pay Level 6 under 7th Central Pay Commission with an initial pay of ₹35,400 per month.
- Selection involves 1st Stage CBT (screening), 2nd Stage CBT (discipline-specific), Document Verification, and Medical Examination.

- Junior Engineer (JE): Three-year Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Electronics & Allied Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
- Depot Material Superintendent (DMS): Three-year Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognized University/Institution (or equivalent higher qualification).
- Candidates must be Indian citizens, Nepalese citizens, Bhutanese subjects, or persons of Indian origin migrated from specified countries with intent to settle permanently in India (subject to eligibility certificate where applicable).
- Minimum age: 18 years as of 01.01.2027. Maximum age: 33 years as of 01.01.2027 (relaxations apply for reserved categories and ex-servicemen).

- 1st Stage CBT: Screening test with 100 questions (Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, General Science) for 100 marks, 90 minutes duration (120 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates).
- 2nd Stage CBT: Discipline-specific test with 150 questions (General Awareness, Physics & Chemistry, Basics of Computers & Applications, Basics of Environment & Pollution Control, Technical Abilities) for 150 marks, 120 minutes duration (160 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates).
- Negative marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer in both CBT stages.
- Document Verification: Based on merit and options in 2nd Stage CBT; number of candidates called equals vacancies.
- Medical Examination: Post-specific medical standards (A-3, B-1, B-2, or C-1) as per Annexure A of the official notification.

- Original Diploma/Degree certificates and mark sheets with two sets of self-attested photocopies.
- Matriculation/SSC/SSLC certificate as proof of date of birth.
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/EBC) in prescribed format, where applicable.
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) certificate and UDID, where applicable.
- Ex-Servicemen discharge/employment certificate and self-declaration, where applicable.
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from present employer for serving Central/State Government or PSU employees.
- Aadhaar/DigiLocker details used for identity verification.
- Colour passport-size photograph (not older than two months) for each stage (CBT/DV/Medical Examination).
- Scribe-related certificates and letters of undertaking for eligible PwBD candidates using scribe assistance.

- ₹500 for General/OBC/EWS candidates (₹400 refundable upon appearing for 1st Stage CBT).
- ₹250 for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Female/Transgender/Minority/EBC candidates (fully refundable upon appearing for CBT).
