- Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in Urdu or a relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or equivalent foreign degree.
- Eligibility pathways:
A. Master's degree with NET/SLET/SET qualification or Ph.D. as per UGC regulations (2009/2016).
B. Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 by QS, THE, or ARWU rankings.
- Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to July 11, 2009, are exempt from NET/SLET/SET if they meet specific Ph.D. conditions (regular mode, external examiners, viva voce, research publications, and conference presentations).
- NET/SLET/SET not required for disciplines where UGC/CSIR does not conduct these tests.
- Eligibility pathways:
