Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - Climate-Responsive Aquifer Mapping and Groundwater Risk Management in Ladakh

- Recruitment of 2 Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) under an MoEF&CC–NMHS sponsored research project titled 'Climate-Responsive Aquifer Mapping and Groundwater Risk Management in Ladakh’s Cold Desert: An Integrated Hydrogeological and Socioeconomic Approach'.
- Project duration: 3 years with initial appointment for 1 year, extendable annually subject to performance, fund availability, and project continuation.
- Fellowship: ₹37,000 per month + 20% HRA as per GoI norms.
- Extensive fieldwork in Ladakh, including hydrogeological investigations, aquifer mapping, groundwater sampling, geophysical surveys, and socioeconomic surveys in high-altitude, cold desert conditions.
- Fieldwork involves travel to remote areas, prolonged outdoor activities, trekking over rugged terrain, and working in challenging climatic conditions.
- Position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project; no right to permanent employment at NIT Raipur.

- Candidates must possess M.Tech./M.E./M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech. in Applied Geology/Geology, Hydrogeology, Geophysics, Water Resources Engineering, Geomatics/Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing & GIS, or equivalent qualifications.
- Candidates with academic/research experience in hydrogeology, groundwater assessment, aquifer mapping, GIS/Remote Sensing, geophysics, water resources, or climate studies will be preferred.
- Prior fieldwork experience in hydrogeology, geology, groundwater studies, geophysics, GIS/Remote Sensing, or related areas is advantageous.
- Upper age limit as per Government of India norms; relaxations applicable for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD candidates as per GoI and sponsoring agency guidelines.

- Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview (offline/online) on 01 September 2026 at 10:00 AM onwards in the Department of Applied Geology, NIT Raipur.
- Selection is based on interview performance, academic qualifications, research experience, and willingness to undertake extensive fieldwork.
- Candidates must produce original certificates/documents for verification along with self-attested copies.
- Candidates currently employed must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of interview/document verification.
