- Postgraduate degree in Basic Science (e.g., MSc, MTech, MVSc) OR
- Graduate/Postgraduate degree in a Professional Course selected through national-level examinations
- Candidates must have qualified through one of the following:
- National Eligibility Test (NET) including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) conducted by CSIR-UGC
- GATE examination
- National-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments/agencies as per DST guidelines
