Data Scientist (AI & ML) Contract Positions

- The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under Digital India Corporation is inviting applications for 4 contract positions of Data Scientist (AI & ML) with a maximum salary up to ₹40 LPA.
- These roles are purely contract-based for an initial period of 3 years, extendable based on project requirements.
- The positions are based in New Delhi but may require transfer to project locations as per NeGD/DIC policy.
- NeGD is a key player in implementing e-Governance projects and initiatives under the Digital India Programme, including platforms like DigiLocker, UMANG, and Poshan Tracker.

- Educational Qualification: Must hold a B.Tech./B.E., M.Tech./M.S., or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, AI/ML, or related quantitative disciplines.
- Advanced Degree or Work Experience: An advanced degree (M.S./M.Tech./Ph.D.) or published applied work in machine learning, NLP, computer vision, or statistics is highly desirable.
- Certifications: Not mandatory, but candidates with strong verifiable work experience (e.g., Kaggle Expert level, published research, or significant open-source contributions) will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years in data science, machine learning, or applied AI (6+ years preferred). Must have at least 3 years of experience developing models or AI systems deployed in production or used in operational decisions.
- End-to-End Ownership: Demonstratable ownership of at least two models or AI systems with measurable outcomes.
- Hands-on Experience: Experience with at least one LLM or deep learning application deployed for end users, with documented evaluation.
- Technical Expertise: Experience in at least two of the following: fraud/anomaly detection, forecasting, risk scoring, NLP/LLM applications, computer vision/document AI, speech, or causal inference.
- Regulated Sector/Indian-Language Data: Experience in a regulated sector (financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, public sector) or with Indian-language data is a plus.

- Screening of applications will be based on qualifications, age, and relevant experience.
- NeGD reserves the right to fix higher thresholds for qualifications and experience and limit the number of candidates for interviews.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews.
- NeGD reserves the right to not select any candidates without assigning a reason.
