- Employment exchange-registered candidates: Domiciles of Maharashtra, Goa, or Karnataka with valid employment exchange cards registered along the Konkan Railway route.
- Other domicile candidates: Candidates from Maharashtra, Goa, or Karnataka (not covered above).
- Serving KRCL employees: Must have completed at least 3 years of regular service.
- Track Maintainer post: Limited to eligible land loser candidates only.
- Educational qualifications vary by post (e.g., 10th pass for Track Maintainer, Diploma in Engineering for Junior Engineer, Bachelor's Degree in Engineering for Senior Section Engineer).
- Candidates appearing in final qualifying exams may apply but must produce certificates during document verification.

- Computer Based Test (CBT) with negative marking (1 mark deducted per wrong answer).
- Post-wise additional stages:
- Section Controller, Station Master, Assistant Loco Pilot: CBT → Aptitude Test → Document Verification → Medical Examination.
- Senior Section Engineer, Junior Engineer, Goods Train Manager, Commercial Supervisor, Technician-III, ESTM-III: CBT → Document Verification → Medical Examination.
- Track Maintainer: CBT → Document Verification → Physical Efficiency Test (PET) → Medical Examination.
- Merit preparation: 70% weightage to CBT marks and 30% to Aptitude Test marks (for SCOR/SM/ALP posts).
- Final selection based on merit, post preference, and vacancy availability.

- Income Certificate for EBC fee waiver/EWS Income & Asset Certificate.
- PwBD certificate (if applicable).
- NOC from current employer (for serving Govt./PSU employees) and discharge certificate (for Ex-Servicemen).
- Land Loser candidates: SLAO Land Loser Certificate, Tehsildar's certificate, proof of relationship, and RTC land documents.

- UR/OBC-NCL/General candidates: Rs. 1,180 (Rs. 1,000 + 18% GST) + payment gateway charges.
- SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Female/Minorities/EBC/PwBD candidates: Fee refunded (minus bank charges) upon appearing in CBT.
