- Kannada Language Teachers: Graduation with Kannada as optional subject (Arts stream) or 'Kannada Pandith' course with Kannada B.Ed., or Bachelor's with Kannada + Postgraduate in Kannada.
- English Language Teachers: Graduation with English as optional subject (Arts stream) or Postgraduate Diploma in English (RIESI) with B.Ed. in English, or Postgraduate in English with Kannada proficiency.
- Hindi Language Teachers: Graduation with Hindi as optional subject + B.Ed., or Postgraduate/Graduation in Hindi with B.Ed. in Hindi method + Kannada proficiency.
- Mathematics Teachers: Graduation in Science with Mathematics and Physics + B.Ed. in Science method + Kannada proficiency.
- Science Teachers: Graduation in Science with Chemistry + Botany/Zoology/Biology + B.Ed. in Science method + Kannada proficiency.
- Social Science Teachers: Graduation with any two of History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Geography + B.Ed. in Arts method + studied in English medium.
- Computer Science Teachers (RPC cadre only): Graduation in Engineering/Technology/BCA/B.Sc. (Computer Science) + B.Ed. with Kannada proficiency.
- Physical Education Teachers: Recognized university degree + Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) + Kannada proficiency.
- Graduate Drawing Teachers (KK cadre only): B.F.A./B.V.A. or Art Master certificate in Drawing and Painting + Kannada proficiency.
- Diploma Drawing Teachers (KK cadre only): Diploma in Drawing/Painting/Commerce/Applied Arts + Kannada proficiency.

- Selection is based purely on a competitive written examination (OMR-based).
- Exam consists of Paper-I (General Knowledge) and Paper-II (Subject-specific paper), each with 100 questions and 100 marks.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 35% for general category candidates; candidates scoring below this are disqualified.
- Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer.
- Document verification follows merit and category-wise reservation.
- Candidates who have not studied Kannada up to SSLC level must appear for a qualifying Kannada Language Test (150 marks, minimum 50 required to qualify).

- Ex-servicemen certificate (if applicable).
- Government employee ID (if applicable).

- General and other categories (2A/2B/3A/3B): ₹750 (₹500 application fee + ₹250 exam fee).
- SC/ST/Category-1/Ex-servicemen/Third Gender: ₹500 (₹250 application fee + ₹250 exam fee).
- Special Pay (PWD) candidates: ₹250 (exam fee only).
- Additional ₹100 per extra post if applying for more than one post.
