The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru, is a deemed-to-be University and premier research institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, focused on advancing scientific research and training in frontier and interdisciplinary areas of science and engineering.
The President will have overall administrative control of the Institute and provide high-level leadership in identifying research programs and projects of national and international relevance across specialized fields.
Responsibilities include motivating scientists, promoting creativity and excellence, fostering multidisciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations, and ensuring harmonious functioning of the Institute.
The President will interact with national and international academic and professional institutions to align research activities with the Institute's objectives.

Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, or any related interdisciplinary field.
Post-doctoral research experience is desirable.
Evidence of high professional eminence through recognitions such as fellowships of academies, national/international awards in science, or original published work of high standard.
Minimum 25 years of experience in R&D in industrial, academic, or science and technology organizations, including at least 6 years in managerial/administrative roles for science and technology programs, planning, development, budget, finance, and coordination.
Includes a minimum of 10 years as a Professor in a University system or equivalent position in a reputed research/academic administrative organization.
Experience in the domain areas of research/activities undertaken by JNCASR, such as physical sciences, chemical sciences, life sciences, or related interdisciplinary fields.

The Committee may also consider applications/nominations from Fellows of Academies, Directors of National Laboratories, Vice Chancellors of Universities, or other eminent persons.

The Search-cum-Selection Committee may invite persons of high repute for appointment.
The Ministry/Search-cum-Selection Committee will formulate transparent criteria for shortlisting and subsequent selection.
