Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026

- Recruitment drive by Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, under the Skill India Mission for Act Apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
- Total of 1010 apprentice seats available across multiple trades including Carpenter, Electrician, Fitter, Machinist, Painter, Welder, MLT (Radiology & Pathology), and PASAA.
- Training is purely for apprenticeship and does not guarantee employment in ICF or Railways post-completion.
- Preference given to candidates from Tamil Nadu; registration with local Employment Exchange in Tamil Nadu required (except wards of Railway employees).
- Stipend ranges from ₹8,200 to ₹9,600 per month, with a 10% increase in the second year of training.

- Educational qualification varies by trade and category:
- Freshers: Minimum 50% aggregate marks in Std X (10th) for most trades; Std XII (12th) with Physics, Chemistry & Biology required for MLT posts.
- Ex-ITI candidates: Minimum 50% marks in Std X (10th) and National Trade Certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in the relevant trade.
- Age limit as on 7 September 2026:
- ITI candidates: 15 to 24 years.
- Non-ITI candidates: 15 to 22 years.
- Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
- Candidates must be residents of Tamil Nadu or registered with a local Employment Exchange in Tamil Nadu (except wards of Railway employees).
- Wards of Railway employees must submit a Railway employee's Identity Card/Service Certificate (attested by a Gazetted Officer), UMID card, and PPO copy.
- PwBD candidates must enclose a disability certificate from the Central/State Government (minimum 40% relevant disability).
- Candidates with higher qualifications (Degree, Diploma, Engineering Degree, or completed Act Apprenticeship) are not eligible, except for MLT posts.

- Selection is based on a merit list prepared from marks obtained in Std X (10th).
- For COVID-pass candidates, proof of IX std mark sheet or X std half-yearly mark sheet (duly signed by the Principal) will be considered.
- In case of equal marks, preference is given to the older candidate; if dates of birth are the same, the candidate who passed Std X earlier is prioritized.
- Freshers exercise trade options, and trades are allotted based on merit order and vacancy availability (no requests for trade change entertained post-allotment).
- Ex-ITI candidates are trained in the trade for which they hold an ITI certificate.
- Selected candidates must be physically fit as per the Apprentices Act, 1961, and must produce a Medical Certificate from a Government-authorized doctor (not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon) at Document Verification.
- Selected candidates must execute a contract of apprenticeship; minors must have their guardian execute the contract as per guidelines.

All categories (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwBD) with age relaxation for reserved categories.

- Std X/XII/ITI original Transfer Certificate for document verification.
- Caste certificate (for SC/ST candidates) and OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate (for OBC candidates).
- Disability certificate (for PwBD candidates).
- Railway employee's Identity Card/Service Certificate (attested by a Gazetted Officer), UMID card, and PPO copy (for wards of Railway employees).
- Recent passport-size photograph (maximum 200 KB, jpg/jpeg format).
- Registration certificate from local Employment Exchange in Tamil Nadu (except wards of Railway employees).

- ₹100 + applicable service charges for General/OBC male candidates (non-refundable).
- No application fee for SC, ST, PwBD, and Women candidates.
- Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
