- Freshers: Minimum 50% aggregate marks in Std X (10th) for most trades; Std XII (12th) with Physics, Chemistry & Biology required for MLT posts.
- Ex-ITI candidates: Minimum 50% marks in Std X (10th) and National Trade Certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in the relevant trade.
- Age limit as on 7 September 2026:
- ITI candidates: 15 to 24 years.
- Non-ITI candidates: 15 to 22 years.
- Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
- Candidates must be residents of Tamil Nadu or registered with a local Employment Exchange in Tamil Nadu (except wards of Railway employees).
- Wards of Railway employees must submit a Railway employee's Identity Card/Service Certificate (attested by a Gazetted Officer), UMID card, and PPO copy.
- PwBD candidates must enclose a disability certificate from the Central/State Government (minimum 40% relevant disability).
