Project Position of Research Associate-I (RA) at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee

- Project title: Comprehensive hydrological assessment of impacts of climate change on water resources in the Sone River basin.
- Sponsored by the Department of Water Resources (DoWR) and Planning Department, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt. of India.
- The project is led by Principal Investigator (PI) Prof. Manoj Kumar Jain and Co-PI Prof. Ashutosh Sharma.
- The candidate will focus on quantifying climate change impacts on meteorological processes and hydrology in the Sone River basin.
- Key responsibilities include handling large datasets (satellite, hydro-meteorological, climate data), working with remote sensing, hydrological modeling (SWAT, VIC, WEAP), and machine learning algorithms.
- Strong programming skills in R, Python, or MATLAB are mandatory.
- Extensive fieldwork for hydrometeorological data collection and field surveys will be required.
- Experience in writing technical reports, patents, and publishing at least one journal paper in a Q1 journal is required.

- PhD in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Agricultural Engineering with a Master’s (M.Tech or M.E.) in the same or related field.
- Sound knowledge of large data handling, satellite data, hydro-meteorological data, and climate data.
- Proficiency in remote sensing (classical/multispectral), data processing, and analysis.
- Sound knowledge of hydrological models such as SWAT, VIC, or WEAP.
- Experience with big data handling, APIs, Google Earth Engine, and machine learning algorithms.
- Strong programming skills in R, Python, or MATLAB.
- At least one published journal paper in a Q1 journal on a relevant topic.
