Post-Doctoral Fellow in Fibre-Reinforced Polymer Composite Modelling

- Temporary position under an ARDB-funded project at IIT Gandhinagar.
- Focus on solid mechanics-based modelling of fibre-reinforced polymer composites for aerospace applications.
- Candidate will develop a finite element framework to predict composite response under loading and processing conditions.
- Experimental work includes thermal/mechanical characterisation (DSC, DMA), temperature measurement, and strain sensing using FBG sensors.
- Models will be calibrated and validated using experimental data.
- Expected to publish in reputed journals and contribute to project reports.

- PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace/Civil/Materials/Chemical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or allied areas. Candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis are also eligible.
- Strong background in solid/continuum mechanics and experience with finite element analysis, demonstrated through doctoral research.
- Minimum 60% or equivalent grade points from graduation onwards; 55% or equivalent in Class 10th and 12th.
- Desirable: Research experience with polymers/fibre-reinforced polymer composites, including constitutive modelling.
- Experience with commercial/in-house FE codes (e.g., Abaqus/ANSYS/COMSOL) and writing user subroutines (UMAT/VUMAT) is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with thermal/mechanical characterisation (DSC, DMA) and strain sensing using Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors is a plus.
- Good communication skills and ability to plan/execute simulations and experiments independently.
