Assistant Director and Scientific Officer (Digital Forensic) Recruitment 2026

- HPPSC has released notifications for 2 vacancies under the Directorate of Forensic Services, Department of Home, Himachal Pradesh: Assistant Director (Digital Forensic) and Scientific Officer (Digital Forensic) on a contractual basis as Job Trainees.
- Positions are fixed-amount engagements with no permanent tenure.
- Recruitment is open only to bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh for reservation benefits.
- The selection process includes a two-stage written test (Objective Screening Test + Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test) followed by a Personality Test.
- The exam pattern consists of Paper-I (Objective Screening Test, 100 marks, 1-hour duration) covering General Knowledge of Himachal Pradesh, National/International Affairs, Hindi, and English. Negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for wrong answers.
- Paper-II (Descriptive SAT, 120 marks, 3-hour duration) will be based on a syllabus decided by the Commission. Minimum pass marks are 45% for General and 40% for reserved categories.
- Candidates must apply online via the HPPSC ORA portal before the deadline.

- Qualification: At least a 2nd class Master’s Degree in Forensic Science, Digital Forensics, Cyber Forensics, Physics, MCA, or Master’s in Engineering (Computer Science, Electronics, IT, or Electronic Communication) from a recognized university.
- Experience:
Assistant Director (Digital Forensic): Minimum 7 years of post-qualification experience in research, training, or analytical work.
Scientific Officer (Digital Forensic): Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in research, training, or analytical work.
* Ph.D. degree in relevant subjects is desirable but not mandatory.
- Age Limit: Between 18 to 45 years as of January 1, 2026.
- Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/WFF/PwD candidates of Himachal Pradesh. Additional relaxations apply to Himachal Pradesh government employees and ex-servicemen as per government instructions.
- Desirable: Knowledge of Himachal Pradesh customs, manners, and dialects for suitability in the state’s conditions.

- Stage 1: Objective Type Screening Test (Paper-I) + Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test (Paper-II).
- Stage 2: Personality Test.

General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and PwD (with reservation for bonafide Himachali residents)

- Bonafide Himachali certificate (for reserved categories).
- Proof of age (birth certificate/matriculation certificate).
- Experience certificates (as per post requirements).
- Ph.D. certificate (if applicable).
- Caste certificate (if applicable).
- Disability certificate (if applicable).
- Passport-sized photographs (as per portal guidelines).
- Signature (scanned copy).

A uniform application fee of Rs. 600/- is applicable for all candidates, irrespective of category or gender. Payment must be made online via Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or other digital modes.
