Recruitment of Sports Persons against Sports Quota for Western Railway (2026-27)

- Western Railway invites online applications from eligible Indian sports persons for 64 posts (21 Group 'C' and 43 erstwhile Group 'D') under the Sports Quota for the year 2026-27.
- No reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-SM categories.
- Selected candidates will be posted anywhere on Western Railway and may be transferred to any other Railway/establishment as per service exigencies.
- Selected male candidates are liable for active service in Railway Engineers Unit of Territorial Army.
- Candidates must fit into the Western Railway Sports Association (WRSA) team to be selected.
- Selected candidates will have to submit a 5-year service bond at the time of appointment.

- Age limit: Minimum 18 years and maximum 25 years as on 01/01/2027 (born between 01/01/2002 and 01/01/2009).
- Educational qualification varies by post level:
- Level 5/4 (GP 2800/2400): Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Level 3/2 (GP 2000/1900): 12th pass (+2 stage) or equivalent OR Matriculation + ITI/Act Apprenticeship OR Matriculation + Course Completed Act Apprenticeship.
- Level 1 (GP 1800): 10th pass OR ITI OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC).
- Sports achievements must be acquired between 01/04/2024 and the date of notification (27-08-2026) and must be active.
- Candidates must have represented or achieved specified positions in recognized national/international championships as per post-level norms.
- Candidates must possess Aadhaar card (12-digit number or 28-digit enrollment ID) for online application.
- Candidates awaiting final examination results are not eligible.

- Selection is based on a 100-mark system:
- 50 marks for recognized sports achievements as per norms.
- 40 marks for game skill, physical fitness, and coach’s observations during trials.
- 10 marks for educational qualification.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 70 for Level 5/4, 65 for Level 3/2, and 60 for Level 1.
- Candidates scoring the same marks will be ranked by age (younger candidates preferred).
- Eligible candidates will be called for trials; only those securing 25+ marks out of 40 in trials will proceed to the next stage.
- Candidates declared 'NOT FIT' in trials will not be assessed further.
- Final selection is subject to medical fitness, document verification, and antecedent verification.

General

- Scanned copy of minimum academic qualification mark sheet/certificate.
- Certificate proving recognized sports achievement held between 01/04/2024 and 27-08-2026.
- Certificate for proof of date of birth (SSC certificate or equivalent).
- Scanned copy of caste certificate (if applicable for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates).
- OBC Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (issued on or after 01/04/2026).
- Minority Community Declaration affidavit (for minority candidates).
- Income certificate for EBC candidates (family income < ₹50,000 per annum).
- Original Aadhaar card or enrollment ID at the time of selection trial.
- Four passport-size photographs.
- Candidates in government/PSU service must produce 'No Objection Certificate' at the time of trial.

- General/OBC/Other categories: ₹500 (refundable ₹400 if eligible and appeared in trials, after deducting bank charges).
- SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Women/Minorities/EBC: ₹250 (refundable if eligible and appeared in trials, after deducting bank charges).
- Fee payment must be made online via debit card/credit card/internet banking/UPI during the online application process.
