- The organization focuses on Agri-Instrumentation, Biomedical Instrumentation, Optical Devices & Systems, Geoscientific Instrumentation, Precision Mechanical Systems, Analytical Techniques, and Computational Instrumentation.
- Selected candidates may be posted at CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh, or its centers (e.g., Chennai), and may be required to work in shifts or at odd hours as per organizational needs.

- For Security Officer (Group B): Ex-Servicemen JCO (Subedar or higher rank) or equivalent rank in other paramilitary forces with minimum 10 years' experience in security (5 years for Short Service Commissioned Officers and Assistant Commandant in CRPF/BSF/ITBP).
- For Receptionist (Group B): Graduate with 2 years' relevant experience as a Receptionist in a Government/Autonomous Body/Public Undertaking.
- For Driver (Group C): Valid driving license for LMV & HMV, knowledge of motor mechanism, 3 years' experience in driving a motor car, and 10th standard pass.
- Minimum age limit: 18 years; maximum age limit varies by post (35 years for Security Officer, 28 years for Receptionist, 27 years for Driver as on 14.09.2026).
- Age relaxation applicable for OBC (3 years), PwBD (10 years, total 13 years for OBC), Ex-Servicemen (3 years), and widows/divorced women (up to 35/38 years).
- Candidates must be Indian nationals and fulfill all prescribed qualifications and experience requirements as on the last date of application submission.

- Security Officer: Physical and personality assessment test (qualifying), followed by a written test. Final merit based on written test performance.
- Receptionist: Personality assessment test.
- Driver: Skill test followed by a written test. Final merit based on written test performance.
- Written test for Security Officer includes Paper I (OMR/computer-based objective) and Paper II (subjective). Threshold marks: 30% in Paper I and 35% in Paper II.
- Written test for Driver includes General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and English Language (100 questions, 90 minutes). Negative marking applies.
- Medium of examination: Bilingual (English and Hindi) except for English Language section.
