Ship Draftsman Trainee (Mechanical & Electrical) Recruitment

- Recruitment for Ship Draftsman Trainee positions in Mechanical and Electrical disciplines at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Miniratna Schedule 'A' PSU under the Government of India.
- Training period is 2 years with performance evaluation after the first year; only successful candidates proceed to the second year.
- Selected candidates may be considered for contractual posts for up to 5 years based on organizational needs and individual performance.
- Training involves shop floor visits, dry dock inspections, and on-board ship inspections requiring physical agility (climbing ladders, passing through manholes, and working in confined spaces).
- Post is not identified for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) due to the nature of work.

- For Mechanical Discipline: Pass in SSLC and 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education with minimum 60% marks, along with proficiency in CAD and flair for draftsmanship.
- For Electrical Discipline: Pass in SSLC and 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education with minimum 60% marks, along with proficiency in CAD and flair for draftsmanship.
- Minimum qualification must be from a recognized institution by AICTE/State/Central Government.
- Candidates with higher qualifications (e.g., B.Tech, M.Sc) are not eligible.
- Applicants must provide exact percentage of marks in the qualifying examination; where grades are awarded, conversion criteria (if defined by the board) must be used, otherwise aggregate grade points multiplied by 10 to derive percentage.

- Selection is based on a Practical Test (100 marks) conducted at CSL, Kochi, where candidates must prepare a drawing using CAD software.
- Minimum pass marks: 50% for unreserved/EWS, 45% for OBC (only for reserved vacancies), and 40% for SC/ST (only for reserved vacancies).
- CSL may relax minimum pass marks if qualified candidates are insufficient.
- Shortlisted candidates must undergo certificate verification (age, qualification, reservation) with original documents before attending the Practical Test.
- Rank list is prepared based on Practical Test marks; seniority in age is used as a tiebreaker.
- Medical fitness certification is required before appointment.
