- Must possess a MOT I Class Motor Certificate or Marine Engineering Officer Class I Certificate issued under the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
- Applicants must be officers holding analogous posts or currently holding the post of Chief Engineer Marine (Vessel)/Senior Marine Engineer in a Major Port Trust in the pay scale of Rs. 16,000-20,800 (Revised: Rs. 80,000-2,20,000).
- Must have 1 year of regular service in the grade and 5 years of experience on a foreign-going ship as of 1 April 2027.
- Maximum age limit: 48 years (as of 1 April 2027).
