- AIIMS Gorakhpur is an apex healthcare institute established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) to improve regional healthcare services and medical education.
- The appointment is initially for 1 year, extendable up to 3 years based on performance and conduct.
- Selected candidates must not have completed 3 years of Senior Residency under the Residency Scheme in any government medical institution.
- Candidates must not engage in private practice during the contract period.
- The appointee is expected to conform to the rules of conduct and discipline applicable to institute employees.

- Postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the respective discipline from an NMC-recognized university/institute.
- Mandatory NMC/MCI/State Medical Council registration before joining.
- Upper age limit: 45 years as of the date of interview.
- Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC candidates. No relaxation for unreserved vacancies.
- For Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): age relaxation up to 10 years (General), 13 years (OBC), and 15 years (SC/ST).
- Candidates must be Indian nationals.
- Candidates working in Central/State Government/Semi-Government/Autonomous Institutions must submit a 'No Objection Certificate' from their employer at the time of interview.

- Selection is based on an interview conducted at AIIMS Gorakhpur.
- If a large number of applications are received (more than five per post), a written screening test may be conducted before the interview.
- The screening test carries 80% weightage, and the interview carries 20% weightage in determining the final merit.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 60% for UR/EWS, 55% for OBC, and 50% for SC/ST candidates.
- For the Trauma & Emergency department, candidates with MD/MS/DNB in Anesthesia/Emergency Medicine/General Medicine/General Surgery/Orthopedics are eligible.

- Original and self-attested photocopies of degrees, certificates, mark sheets, age proof, caste certificates, and payment receipt.
- Valid caste certificate (OBC/EWS/SC/ST) as per government norms.
- Income and Assets certificate for EWS category (if applicable).
- Disability certificate for PwBD candidates, signed by a duly constituted Medical Board.
- 'No Objection Certificate' from current employer (if applicable).

- General/EWS/OBC: Rs. 500/- (non-refundable).
- SC/ST: Rs. 250/- (non-refundable).
- PwBD candidates: Exempted from application fee.
